The Founders
Parfum Couture was born from a happy meeting of its two founders, Karin Deboulet and Audrey Boulet, who discovered that they shared a common passion for the art of perfumery, and that they both had family roots in the business, going back to their grandparents. Following extensive consultations with a close friend and talented “nose,” in 2015 the pair launched Parfum Couture, offering their personalized service to select clients in New York and Paris.
“From an early age, Karin was immersed in the Paris of Haute-Couture and Perfume. Having grown up under the spell of her grandmother, Paule, who was a close collaborator of Coco Chanel and Director of the original Haute-Couture Chanel Salon Rue Cambon, Karin recalls one her earliest memories:
“I sit in the boudoir of my grandmother, watching her put up her hair as she performs her elaborate perfume ritual. The room fills with a rich, luxurious fragrance, and I’m transported… looking back, memories like these help define our sense of elegance, of femininity.”
Karin went on to lead a fifteen-year career in marketing in Paris, Geneva, London and New York having worked with some top luxury brands, including, Chanel, Christian Dior, Bulgari and Patek Philippe, all the while nurturing her passion for perfume.
In the midst of her career, Karin enrolled in NYU where she received a Certificate in Interior Design. Her study there included the introduction of fragrance to the process of interior design, work which would provide integral inspiration for the development of Parfum Couture.”
Audrey's roots in perfumery begin with her grandparents, Roger and Jeanne. In 1945, having just been freed after the Second World War, Roger met Jeanne in the north of France, and together they decided to start their lives over. Roger, who before the war had owned a pharmacy specializing in cosmetics and elixirs, went on to open a specialized parfumerie, offering private consultations and formulating custom fragrances.
The parfumerie formed the foundation of Audrey's family, around which she and her siblings grew up. Many years later, after the parfumerie had closed, the collection of perfume bottles from Lancôme, Lucien Lelong and others, surrounded her inside the family home.
"On display in bathroom cupboard or hidden in a closets, each flasks was an olfactory adventure," Audrey recalls.
Prior to founding Parfum Couture with Karin, Audrey pursued a successful career working with many of the world’s finest bottlers of spring and mineral waters.
